After finishing his hosting duties for this year’s The Voice, we caught up for a quick natter to find out what’s been going on since we last chatted…
How are you today? Really good thanks, really, really good. I’m on my way to a video shoot for something I’m doing for my chart show.
Have you been able to relax now The Voice is over or are you straight back to work? Straight back to work! We finished up on Saturday night and had a good party afterwards but even on Saturday night I had a DJ gig in Reading, so I went straight to that. I went straight back into work on Sunday as it’s single release week, so the busiest week of the year so far.
How do you juggle your working life and family life? You know what, I’m pretty lucky because I don’t work typical 9-5. This morning I spent all morning with Alaia and I’ve just left home now. Last night I put her to bed before the radio show and between Rochelle and I, both of our schedules are sporadic. We have both of our parents to help but it just kinda works – very rarely we get stuck. We still work and get a great family life.
I was very lucky to be given the opportunity to host The Voice, it’s been great and I’ve loved every minute of it
Was presenting something you always wanted to do, or did you just sort of fall into it? It was definitely something I always wanted to do. When I was in JLS we would always do take over shows and take over radio shows and MTV for an hour. I was very lucky to be given the opportunity to host The Voice, it’s been great and I’ve loved every minute of it.
You work with Rochelle on This Morning, how do you get on at work? Ha ha, we have good banter between the two of us – we’re obviously a married couple and can be completely honest with each other. We can have little digs at each other which can be funny. We like to have a bit more fun on Friday shows as they’re a bit lighter.
