Reviewed: CHOKE – ‘Take Off’ Issue 1

Like graphic novels? Give this one a read!

CHOKE resizedWith Marvel currently taking over the comic book scene with their latest film adaptations (Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier – just to name a few) it’s nice to see something different from an independent artist and writer for an adult audience. And I have to add, it’s also great to read one that doesn’t follow the clichés of the superhero who looks like he’s on steroids, I mean, do they ever get drawn working out at all?! (My spider senses tell me someone will prove me wrong here!)

Welcome Fynn Smith, a rent boy living in America who has a secret. It’s a secret that he could tell everyone, and in the process he might become famous and very popular. However, he has chosen to keep it to himself so he can enjoy it alone. Little does he know, a group of people in the year 2186 need his help to rescue the future.

Time travel, sex, fantasy, a gripping storyline and a cute main character all play a part in this first issue of CHOKE. There really is a no boundary feel of what could happen next, keeping you on your toes as you flip through the pages.

I couldn't put CHOKE issue 1 down!

I’m looking forward to venturing into the rest of the series to explore the character development whilst getting to know Fynn and Marla. Already I’m excited and a tad impatient to grab issue 2, just so I can see what has happened. I know for a fact it’s going to be edgy and full of action with strong character leads.

If you’re looking for a graphic novel that’ll please and delight your senses, give CHOKE a go! It won’t disappoint. Next issue released August 1st!
