INSIDE ISSUE 16: ERIKA JAYNE

She is a six times Billboard number one star surpassing the likes of Rihanna and Lady Gaga. We just can’t get enough of this ultra sassy lady–Erika Jayne is here to put her stamp on the dance music charts and she’s taking you with her.

You’ve had six consecutive number 1’s on the Billboard Dance Chart. Is this something that you ever expected? It’s a compliment to be in the company of such great artists. Although the six number 1’s were not expected they were certainly welcome.

What inspired you to create dance music at the very beginning? I fell in love with night life and was always the girl dancing around the club having a good time. I love hearing songs that make you want to throw your drink down and run to the dance floor.

I was very honored to have been invited aboard the USS Enterprise to perform for the young service men and women of the US Navy. One of the more treasured things about my career is to make people feel happy, entertained, and to enjoy themselves. This was important to me because I wanted to give to those who give and sacrifice so much.

What do you want people to take from your music? I want people to feel free, have fun, smile, forget their problems and have a good time.

You have been given the opportunity to perform aboard the USS Enterprise for 5,000 American Troops. Why is something like this important to you?  I was very honored to have been invited aboard the USS Enterprise to perform for th e young service men and women of the US Navy. One of the more treasured things about my career is to make people feel happy, entertained, and to enjoy themselves. This was important to me because I wanted to give to those who give and sacrifice so much. It was an experience of a lifetime.

Could you tell us the idea behind your latest track ‘Party People (Ignite The World)’? ‘Party People (Ignite The World)’ is both hopeful and uplifting but at the same time a naughty dance track that makes you want to shake your ass!

You recently played a show at San Diego Pride and have attended other LGBT events. Do you enjoy playing at Pride festivals and why? The LGBT community has been so supportive of me and my music and I truly enjoy performing for such a receptive and fun loving audience.
