Are Music Shows Too Expensive?

We all love to see our favourite music artist perform live, and sometimes we wait months just for that chance. An arena show is like no other and you really have to experience one to really know what I mean! The visuals, the bass of the music and seeing your idol in person usually makes for a great evening but something struck me today, and that was the price. Now, the most I have paid for an arena show was around £35 to see a well-known UK boy band (only three letters *cough*) and to me, that was a fair price. A lot of money and time had been put into the event so the top price ticket being that amount was actually worth it, as well as it being close to affordable. Justin Bieber on the other hand is £50 for seats and £60 for standing. I was completely gob smacked as to why. Two tickets (as most people go with someone) will be over £100, and then the booking fee added. Not everybody can afford that, especially in these hard economic times when there is a shortage of money. I know he has this massive following and all, but surely £50 is a lot for their fans to be paying, even though people will do to catch a glimpse of the Bieber. If you’re a massive fan, you will try to scrape this money up (if you’re not using your Dad’s credits card!) But a lot of people miss out because it is far too much, and that can suck big time.
It isn’t just JB who is charging a lot to see their show, it is a growing trend (or need?) amongst arena shows. If you’re not a music legend (yet) I don’t think you should charge more than £35 out side of London. With the extortionate merchandise prices inside and a ticket, you can calculate how much people are paying.
What do you think about arena show prices and how much would you pay to see your favourite artist?

Mind you, we can’t get enough of his album Believe ;]
